Christmas in Salisbury

Christmas in Salisbury

Join us for Christmas in Salisbury and discover some fantastic festive Wiltshire events for all including our Christmas market, carol services at Salisbury cathedral, lantern parades and much more…

For 24 days in December Salisbury Guildhall Square comes alive with the sights, sounds and smells of one of the South of England’s best Christmas Markets. With over 70 chalets selling design led quality gifts and gourmet food and drink Salisbury Christmas market is everyone’s first stop for Christmas shopping.

The market has a full programme of festive music and carols performed by local choirs, singers, brass and silver bands and other musical groups.

Salisbury’s Christmas Market was rated by the Daily Telegraph in 2012 as one of the ‘Top Ten Christmas Markets in the UK’.

The market opens with a spectacular Lantern Procession through the streets ending in the Market Place. These paper lanterns are no ordinary simple designs, but magnificent, colourful creations made of willow, tissue paper and lots of glue. They can be several metres long and equally high, and as varied as a child’s imagination. Last year saw angels, dinosaurs, snowmen, spiders, stars, dragons and ‘Sponge Bob’.

This year’s Christmas Market runs from 28 November until the 21 December. Opening times are:

10.00 to 6.00 Daily

10.00 to 7.00 Friday and Saturday

10.00 to 8.00 Thursday

And of course join in with Christmas Carols and the Christmas services at the spectacular Salisbury Cathedral visit for more details.
