Ideas for Visiting Salisbury in 2016

Here at the Grasmere House Hotel we are proud to support Time for Wiltshire promoting our wonderful city to the world. The latest campaign offers lots of ideas for you which we thought we’d share to help you plan your next visit.

Salisbury is known as ‘the city in the countryside’. If you pause for a moment to take in the awesome sight of the Cathedral rising up from the lush green meadows, its easy to understand why Salisbury was listed as a Best In Travel location by Lonely Planet.

Salisbury cathedral offers one superlative after another, including Britain’s tallest spire and the oldest working clock. Within the Chapter House see the best preserve of the four original 1215 Magna Carta manuscripts and for an unforgettable experience, a Tower Tour leads you up to the foot of the spire 225 feet above ground.

Don’t forget you can soak up this view from the terrace of our hotel or even upgrade to a room with a view and see Salisbury Cathedral when ever you look out.

The Cathedral Close is an oasis of calm. Here, you’ll find Arundells, home of former Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath; the National Trust’s Mompesson House; The Riffles Berkshire and Wilshire Museum; Salisbury Museum.

Cathedral Close is just a short walk away from the Grasmere House Hotel and is a beautiful stroll on a sunny day.

Stonehenge is just a short taxi ride too, which we can arrange for you or organise a Stonehenge Tour.

And there’s plenty more to do in the City from cultural events with the annual Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival in June and our year round popular venues including the Salisbury Playhouse and City Hall.

Call us and we’ll happily book you in for your next stay!
