Restaurant Conservatory
Conservatory Restaurant also known as "The Bistro on the River" with its spectacular views over Grasmere's gardens down to the rivers Nadder & Avon across the water meadows to Salisbury Cathedral.
The restaurant, with seating for 45 diners, has a menu which features freshly baked bread and a variety of dishes using local produce and is ever changing according to the seasons.
Daily and Market Day specials feature along with themed evenings that are popular with hotel residents and regular guests from the locality.
Today's cuisine reflects traditional English food with modern eclectic influences from around the globe: featuring European, Middle Eastern, Asian, Pacific Rim, and that of the Americas with the stamp of the individuality of our Head Chef.
Among our Seasonal Favorites:
Spring
Rack of English Lamb baked with locally farmed honey and mustard served on minted couscous and our own fresh rosemary and redcurrant jus.
Breast of corn fed chicken wrapped in spinach and pancetta layered on lightly Thai spiced vegetables served with lime leaves and a creamy coconut milk sauce.
Summer
Avocado, sun blushed tomato and Roquefort crostini on a rocket and mizuna salad with a sweet red pepper dressing.
Fillet of Red Mullet with a black olive and herb crust on a fricasse of mussels with fresh sorrel and a dash of Pernod.
Autumn
Breast of Wood Pigeon filled with a rabbit and pistachio mousse, served on a Lavender scented root vegetables and a Madeira Jus lie.
Shank of Lamb marinated and pot roasted in red wine with root vegetables fresh herbs and Basalmic vinegar served on a wholegrain mash.
Winter
Saddle of Rabbit with a baby leek and herb crust baked with field mushrooms and shallots and smoked bacon served in its own juices.
Cassoulet of Game with pheasant and venison braised with winter vegetables and served with our own special recipe cassoulet sausage.
Sarisberie Conservatory
The Sarisberie is adjacent to the restaurant overlooking the water meadows and Salisbury Cathedral.
The two rooms can be used together for large private lunches, dinner-dances, and receptions.
