Stonehenge stands remarkably as a prehistoric monument of unique reputation, a World Heritage Site, surrounded by the remains of ceremonial and domestic structures – some of which are older than the monument itself. Many of these structures - earthworks, burial mounds and other circular ‘henge’ monuments - are accessible by road or public footpaths. Stonehenge’s alignment on the rising and setting sun has always been one of its amazing features.
The visitor centre is complete with a gift shop housing a variety of souvenirs and locally produced crafts and collectables, alongside a café catering to all dietary requirements and serving up delicious rock cakes and luxury hot chocolates.
Please note that online pre-booking is the only way to guarantee entry on the day and time of your choice and therefore highly recommended.
Limited tickets are available on the day.
With the Grasmere House Hotel in such close proximity, it really is the perfect place to stay while visiting the wondrous site. For more information on Stonehenge, visit the official English Heritage website.
